The province of Wellington which includes the cities of Upper and Lower Hutt, and the urban areas around the Kapiti Coast have a population of about 450,000.Christchurch has the population as I mentioned above and the Province of Canterbury where CHC is has a population of approx 500,000 plus.

Really? I'm sure when I was there (late 2000) that Christchurch's population was below Wellington but miles ahead of the 4th city.

Thanks, you have shown the gentle side of CHC, it does have it's problems like other larger cities in Australisia. You say that it is dwafed by Auckland and Wellington. Christchurch is the second largest city in the country with a population of 380,000 in the city and greater CHC being approx 420,000 at present with a population that is growing faster than they have predicted.
