Some of my sweetest memoeries are from the time when I was a student at nearby Residential Model School. Some of my friends used to go to Sangsad Bhaban to climb up the cranes. Those days it was a very controversial (group of) buildings because nobody had seen anything like that before. Now it has transformed itself into an art, a wonder, a vision of a man who brought together 80 million people to form one common identity, one family. My deepest respect for your father - the Architect.

Well, that's why his son went to see Louis' architecture besides talking to the people who knew him...it was through the son's journey that we could see the architect, the father...in the other parts of the documentary, a lot was talked about his architecture...according to Nathan, this is where he found his father...and everyone has their own way of interpreting things...so you can't blame him for what he thinks is important to him... :)

i m from bangladesh. i ve been there several times. i think if u talk about the "architecture" then u r actually talking about the architect.

I am surprised that you claim that you're an architect..You don't become an architect just by passing the B.Arch..and your arrogant & ignorant comments justify it very well...I am also very surprised that you've watched the whole documentary and are still saying these!! This is about the son trying to know his father--the person! Yes, his works are his part, but the person himself comes first! That's why S.Wares' words were more important to N.Kahn in this particular context. Hope you understood

I think he confused Louis Kahn with Luis Barrigan, the architect who designed the courtyard with Kahn at the Salk

i know he didn love bangladesh and i don care about that (he loved it for a while becoz he had to do a good job). he proved it by his lifestyle too.watch the full documentary and read about him.Louis i kahn was my thesis topic.i think we couldn prove it as one of the best architectural work which is our discredit. peoples outside the world doesn give a damn about his love towards us.they all care about the work.thats the bottom line of art and great tragedy of an artist.

i think u should revise ur history knowledge.its all about what remains(peoples within the work come as auxiliary.)i m an architect myself and i know that i m like a god if i need to love someone to deliver the best job then i ll love them. i only care about myself(read nietzsche).this is the way the earth works u like it or not.

I don't agree - in my view, it was a very moving tribute to the architect as a human being who cared and also as an artist. Try listening to what he says instead of what he didn't say. I felt so much gratitude being expressed by this man for the gift they had been given.

Wow! what a beautiful clip.. its very touching. I feel sorry for Mr Kahn's son, but like shamsul wares said.. he was one of a few people who actually cared about Bangladesh.. this building has so many dimensions, even at the emotional level.. its shame the people who work there don't do the building any justice.. (corrupt politicians)by the way.. I though the Louis Farrak Khan bit was priceless..lol. ;)

dear mr wares,u know nothing about architecture.What the hell r u talking about?say something about the structure.i don care about the artist, i care about the art.becoz the artist lives within his works.u couldn guide them to show the magic of this structure(it was our only chance).and u bla bla bla.for gods sake!!!!!!

It appears that Louis had extremely impacted the people of Bangladesh, made them think about who they are, made them love, made them remember. This is what architecture is about.

Thanks for uploading this part of the video "My Architect-A Son's Journey". I have been planning to watch the video. Next time I visit Bangladesh, I will definitely get to Sangsad Bhaban to see the structure of this building.
