Russ Meyer's SUPERVIXENS

Review Russ Meyer's SUPERVIXENS is the epitome of twenty years of gut-tearing film making, a rural Fellini, geared for the young and old alike, the sophisticate and the blue collar and in each blazing scene, the ring of truth. Never before has Meyer revealed so much of himself, or taken such umbrage with his personal life scenes bulging with love, violence and unrelenting hate, each scene bearing his own indelible stamp. Russ Meyer's SUPERVIXENS wields the double-bladed axe of satire, cutting and hacking its way to the very bone of society, laying bare and exposing, with great candor, the frailties, weaknesses and strengths of its citizens. A picture born to entertainment, shocking in its frankness, yet so hilariously funny in its delivery. A cinematic smorgasbord of fantasy, SIX of the world's most BOUNTIFUL women served up from the lusty table of Russ Meyer. Feast on it!

Russ Meyer's MONDO TOPLESS

Review In Russ Meyer's SUPERVIXENS, Clint (Charles Pitts) works diligently at Bormann's filling station to provide for his beautiful but excessively nagging wife, Superangel (Shari Eubank). When a neighbor calls the police after hearing a domestic squabble between the two, the call is answered by Officer Harry Sledge (Jonathan Demme regular and associate producer Charles Napier). Harry takes a liking to Superangel and comes back the next day while Clint is working. Though Superangel attempts to seduce Harry, he is unable to perform, leading her to ridicule him. His violent temper leads him to murder her in the bathtub (in a horrifyingly graphic scene), which results in Clint being framed for the murder of his own wife while crazed Harry goes on the loose. Hapless Clint then goes cross-country in an effort to clear his name. SUPERVIXENS is an undeniably odd work--part skin flick, part violent action film, with something to offend and amaze everyone. Regarded by some Meyer fans as a work distilled down to the most basic elements of his aesthetic, the film is ultimately an ultraviolent macho cartoon fantasy, full of square jaws, blood, breasts, and dynamite.

Russ Meyer's UP!

Review An incredible value for the Russ Meyer fan, this German box set contains almost all of his independent feature films, lacking only the early 60s obscurities Heavenly Bodies!, Europe in the Raw, and Erotica (but including the rare Blacksnake, not available in the US on DVD).

One drawback: they're all dubbed in German!

That aside, this set contains the following:

Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens
Black Snake
Cherry, Harry & Raquel!
Common Law Cabin
Eve and the Handyman
Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers!
Good Morning... and Goodbye!
Lorna
Mondo Topless
Motor Psycho!
Mudhoney
Pandora Peaks
Supervixens
The Immoral Mr. Teas
Up!
Vixen!
Wild Gals of the Naked West
Ilsa - The Wicked Warden

Review Seven classic Russ Meyer movies:
MOTOR PSYCHO (1966)
COMMON LAW CABIN (1967) (as Die liebestollen Hexen)
VIXEN (1968)
CHERRY HARRY AND RAQUEL (1970) (as Megavixens)
SUPERVIXENS (1975)
UP! (1978)
and BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRAVIXENS (1978) (as Im Tiefen Tal der Superhexen).

Dubbed in German, so you might have trouble following the plots, but for a lot of these movies the plots don't make much more sense in English. And if you're interested in plot, Russ Meyer is not the director for you.
