My Kind Of Christmas

Review 2007 compilation from the enormously gifted and talented singer/songwriter, the most successful female artist in Country Music history. From the '60s to the millennium, Dolly has been there combining the bluegrass influences of her youth with the ever-evolving 'modern' sounds of Country & Western. Her performances are always stunning, whether she is accompanied by a small acoustic group or an orchestra. Not only is she an extraordinarily emotive vocalist, she's also an experienced musician and fantastic songwriter (most of her hits were self-penned). 20 tracks including '9 to 5', 'I Will Always Love You', 'Jolene', 'Here You Come Again', 'Coat of Many Colors', 'Islands in the Stream' (with Kenny Rogers) and many more. Sony/BMG.

Home for Christmas

Review Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing. Jolene was Dolly Parton's 13th solo studio album, produced by Bob Ferguson. It was released in February 1974. A sparkling production creates a rich backdrop for both 'Jolene' and 'When Someone Wants to Leave'. This tasteful mix is a joy to listen to. The music and Parton's vocal prowess are in top form on 'Jolene'. The title track tells the tale of a housewife confronting a beautiful seductress who she believes is having an affair with her husband. It became the second solo #1 Country single and a moderate Pop hit. Includes 'I Will Always Love You'.
Coat of Many Colors (2015)

Produced by comprised of songs written solely by Dolly, highlights of this love songs-oriented album include "Pure and Simple," "Head Over High Heels," as well as new recordings of "Tomorrow is Forever," originally recorded as a duet with Porter Wagoner in 1970 and then again with Solomon Burke in 2006, and "Say Forever You'll Be Mine," which Dolly originally recorded with Porter Wagoner in 1975.

Pure & Simple

Review Internationally renowned Country Music legend, Dolly Parton has established a successful name in the entertainment world, selling over 100 million recordings during an illustrious fifty year career. Platinum Blonde goes behind the scenes to take a closer look at the woman under the wigs when she returned to the concert stage back in 2002 after an absence of 20 years. From her youthful struggles with poverty in rural Tennessee, the Country diva has successfully risen to the top of her tree in music, movies and as a successful businesswoman who even owns her own theme park. Incorporating in-depth interviews with the effervescent Dolly as well as friends, family and colleagues such as Lily Tomlin, Kenny Rogers, Billy Connolly, Dabney Coleman, Alison Krauss, Sinead O'Connor, Norah Jones, Jonathan Ross and Terry Wogan, Platinum Blonde captures a personal glimpse into the life and times of a true Country and Western enigma.
