Best known for his songwriting and rythum guitar playing, Pete Townshend is at his best when driving the rest of the band. The windmill (swinging right arm round and round over guitar strings) became his trademark and the driving force behind The Who's music. Pete Townshend's early songs with The Who were classic 2-3 minute structure, later on he wrote extended rock opera's including 'Tommy'. During the early 70's, The Who released the classic album "Whos Next' featuring some of the bands best work. Townshend has released many solo albums and written many great songs including 'Rough Boys' and 'Face The Face'.

Pete Townshend has played many guitars including Rickenbackers, Gibson SGs, Gibson Les Paul Customs and Telecaster lookalikes made by Schecter.
